Instagram is set to introduce a small but significant update that could enhance your collaborative posting experience.
The Current Scenario
At present, if you want to add a collaborator to your Instagram posts, you must do so during the initial creation process. This means you cannot add a collaborator after the post is published, except for Reels, which recently got this functionality (check out this how-to guide from influencer marketing expert Lindsey Gamble). For feed posts and Stories, this retrospective tagging feature is not available.
What’s Changing?
Instagram is now planning to fix this limitation. While it’s not available yet, Instagram head Adam Mosseri has specifically posted about it, indicating that this feature will likely be available soon. This change will provide another way to leverage collaborative posts effectively.
Benefits of Collaborative Posts
Collaborative posts have substantial reach benefits. They appear in the feeds of both the creator and the collaborator, reaching a broader audience and being hosted on both users’ profiles. Additionally, accounts that accept a collaboration invite can see all likes and comments on the post, providing valuable engagement data.
Maximizing Your Instagram Efforts
This upcoming update is another way to maximize your Instagram efforts. Soon, you’ll have more flexibility in how you manage collaborative posts, potentially boosting your reach and engagement.
